Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Nov 16, 2008 2:48 pm Hi all
We had originally decided on Pearl White window frames: But now I'm thinking that it might look too stark (and cheap and nasty) against the foxtail http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee276/amanda_simple_savings/Foxtail.png So now I'm considering Anodic Off White Definitely don't want to go brushed chrome/silver Thoughts? The Anodic Off White will go really well with the stonework, but I’m a bit concerned they will stand out against the Foxtail too much, unless that’s the look you are after? Have you thought about a grey? We want the windows to stand out & be a feature - but not so much a feature as bright white. Does that make sense? The greys are Woodland and Anodic Natural Matt I'm not such a fan of dark frames - living with black frames right now I think I'm leaning towards the Off White so I can have contrast - but not so much contrast - hmmmm After 4 years - we're in! Re: Which window frame colour? 5Nov 16, 2008 5:29 pm Yes, that makes sense!
In that case, go for it. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Which window frame colour? 6Nov 16, 2008 5:32 pm Have you thought about what window dressing you will be having?
I know it’s a lot to think about, but that’s another colour to the externals. I think you are safe with off white. But I also think the white would look ok also Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Which window frame colour? 7Nov 16, 2008 5:58 pm I just wanted to say that your facade looks gorgeous! I love that stonework over the garage. Re: Which window frame colour? 8Nov 16, 2008 5:58 pm The window furnishings I think will be double track curtains - one layer sheer (possibly in a nice champagne colour), the other a blockout fabric. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Which window frame colour? 10Nov 20, 2008 7:19 am Hmmm - I picked up sample pieces of the window colours yesterday.
The Off White unfortunately is quite yellow - which looks nice on the outside (a more natural look to go with the sandstone and Foxtail) - but from the inside - it will look quite strange against the very "white" internal colour (White Smoke) The White is a full gloss finish, but the Off White is a matt finish - I wonder if I could get the White in matt? After 4 years - we're in! Re: Which window frame colour? 11Nov 20, 2008 7:39 am Damn - White only comes in a glossy finish.
I think I'll have to compromise and go with White After 4 years - we're in! Re: Which window frame colour? 12Nov 20, 2008 7:48 am I'm coming in late, but I think white sounds like the winner. We were tossing up between white and silver and also were worried that the white would look cheap but I think since you've got awning windows on the front that will take away that cheapish white look, that's what I'm hoping anyway! Re: Which window frame colour? 13Nov 11, 2009 3:29 pm We were going to go white but decided to go with the silver. We didn't really want a colour for the frames and want the bricks to do their job and stand out. Even now, if we went for the white I don't think it would work at all. The dark colours only a couple we like in the "designer" colours but that would have cost a bit more and we really didn't want to add more money if we didn't need to. I should post the pics when there are some but can't imagine it will be anytime soon. White is definitely very nice and would suit most houses. The creams and beiges look horrible in my opinion. Re: Which window frame colour? 15Nov 12, 2009 1:05 pm I'm voting for the Anodic Off White. I think it would look great -acontrast but not over the top and in your face as the white. I can't wait to follow your progress, your house is going to be fantastic! Re: Which window frame colour? 20Apr 15, 2010 5:55 pm We went with woodland grey, as I had black in a previous house and didn't want that again. But I love the woodland grey with the surfmist render. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8022 Its the flashing and is normal. Some builders cover them up others just leave them handing. You can cover it up with an aluminium bracket or ask the builder. 7 11234 |
