I have just recently bought a house with horizontally sliding windows. (They slide left and right) They have been painted, nailed and no-more-gaps shut. After a few tough hours freeing one up it slides not too far before becoming stuck. The tracks are clean and after a quick measure the frames are not swollen. Being new to owning a home and renovating, I fear damaging them badly. I can cut glass and replace that but the timber is another story. How do I remove the windows (not the glass) without too much damage to the frames? I would really like to see them restored and working properly. (Without the butt ugly paint that is on them) PS.
