Sealing window

I installed a new window which was smaller than the existing so has to fill in around it and next to it. Do you think something like this is ok? Or should I not have timber at the bottom of the window?
I assume I should have wider flashing that sticks out past the timber but over the bricks?

You came up with a new design of a window frame that has unknown adequacy. The easiest way is to use an extra jamb studs on one end (where you filled the remaining opening) next to your new window from top to bottom plate of wall and another stud/s under lintel for bearing.
You need to use weatherproof boards for cladding and fill any gaps remaining.

Thanks for the reply. Just curious about what to do with the flashing at the bottom. Should it hang out over the bricks at the bottom or just tuck it in and totally seal the bottom under the window?

Make sure that the weep holes are clear and free to drain which should be on the underside of the sill, provided that the window is the right way up,
