Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Apr 09, 2024 8:49 pm I had new PVC windows fitted but i refused to have any timber surrounds. After browsing the internet, most suggestions are to use plasterboard - But now it has been pointed out that any moisture getting to the plasterboard maybe thru the cavities is not healthy so i would like to ask for advice on what i should use/do? There are also suggestions to use insulated cavity closers, but i cant see how i would fit them as the windows are attached to the outside wall (double-brick). I don't want to use wood anywhere - Can i use PVC or something moisture resistant instead of the plasterboard? As always, your help is massively appreciated and my hurting head will be forever thankful Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Can you use plasterboard for window jambs, reveals, sill 2Apr 12, 2024 12:07 pm Plasterboard Gyprock is very popular as a reveal liner these days. You need to provide a way of supporting it, we use a modified timber reveal or bracket. You will be governed by the alignment of the sheeted wall and window jamb. I see you have a foam filled join between jamb and wall, that should be a good enough barrier, though I don't think you have met the building code until you provide moisture control.
