Our roller door motor, which is about 20 years old, has thrown a final hissy fit. It's an external boundary fence unit so is quite exposed. The motor part and the roller are covered by a canopy...but there has been some leakage for a while.
Every now and then, normally after rain, the unit stops working. But generally after a couple of days it will start working again. So I suspect it's shorting out or something?
But it stopped working a couple of weeks back and hasn't started working. Power is still getting to the motor but the motor doesn't kick in. So I gather we'll probably have to replace the motor and fix the leaks.
My question...the canopy part really does hug the end of the roller quite closely. Is it a difficult job to replace the motor with the canopy in place? If the canopy needed removal, it would be a pretty big job...
Thanks in advance.
