Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Oct 17, 2008 10:55 am We have been told by M that we have to have a obscure window on the bottom part of our bedroom 2 window and an awning window on the top part with clear glass due to privacy laws. Is there any way around this, can you get the obscure window replaced a few years later with clear and hope the neighbours don't notice. At the moment the window looks onto a unit that has Indian students-not sure if they'd care one way or the other??? Re: Awning window for privacy 2Oct 17, 2008 11:00 am shouldn't be a problem getting it changed later - but do you really want other people looking in at you (especially students!) 1. Put an opaque film on the inside of the window (3M do these sort of films). It can be peeled off at a later date, ie after the local council has inspected the property for building standard and R-code compliance. These films do cut down your natural light factor though. 2. Put some shutters or louvres on the outside of the window, these louvres will leave a lot of light into your room, but will obstruct your view if angled correctly. (which is what the R-Codes insist, no overlooking your neighbours). Good luck with it, Pat.
