Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Sep 30, 2021 6:27 am Hi, House is about 2 years old and one of the double glazed windows now has condensation between the 2 pieces of glass. The builder said he believes that particular double glazed unit has failed and should be covered under the glass manufacturers warranty, The window supplier said the warranty is void as the rubber sill under the window has been removed. The rubber sill that usually sits on the brickwork has been removed as the building is rendered and sealed (sikaflex) between the window frame and the render. Any thoughts? I would have thought that the double glazed panel would not be affected whether the rubber sill was there or not. Most people check their drawings, details, engineering and post (photos) during construction, unfortunately, you have left it a bit late? OT, there's a shortage of qualified trades, materials, proper supervision etc...even more reason to start a thread, check your build during construction, ask questions and keep better records. Sealing the weep holes in the sill is a major problem and a direct cause of your condensation issue, your builder will already know this. he reason your sealed DGU failed is that there will be standing water which can't drain away in the glazing pocket and this eventually defeats the seal.
