Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 May 17, 2021 10:51 am Hello all, Our house is currently being renovated and as part of it we are getting two new aluminium sliding doors installed - one is a large stacking sliding door within an existing house and another one is for a brand new extension where one side of the sliding door abuts the existing external wall. The large stacker door required core filled 200-series blocks on either side to support a double bond beam above. The builder put up the door frames first and then the block layer built around it. I am wondering why was it done this way as I have seen it done like this before? Normally I have seen the blocks laid first and then windows and doors installed. It would not concern me how it is done but now the frames have paint damage in numerous spots and the sliding door tracks covered with mortar and dirt. I am worried how damaged the frames will be by the end and also how all the dirt in the door tracks will impact the door rollers. I understand they will clean them but I doubt they will get all the dirt out. Thanks in advance! BTW we have no problems installing into double brick walls... in brick veneer I would recommend steel columns and beams Ask for an extension of the maintenance/structural period. hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs we have a standard size and often we have a lot of variety to choose 0 2641 We are looking for sliding doors which are 5 metres tall.
