We tried going back asking if we could use screening instead but Council said they don't allow that - only obscured glazing. End of the day we decided to just go with it. We hit the various forums, FB groups etc and the feedback from others that had it suggested it's actually not a bad thing in a bedroom - gives privacy, diffuses the light and the higher opening windows helps get rid of hot air in summer better.
