Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Oct 07, 2008 2:50 pm Hi there,
Our whole house has awning (hopper) and casement windows. We ripped out the old sliding aluminium screens because they looked awful. But now I can't figure out what to do. I want to be able to access the handles of the double stacked hoppers, and the casements - but I also don't want to have all those odd looking cutout flaps in the screen. I don't want to have sliding tracks for the screens - although I guess it would be okay if it was wood. My husband wants to use magnets strips or something! I'm thinking there might be a more novel way to keep insects out without darkening the house with grey screens everywhere. Any ideas? I've attached photos of a few of the windows so you can see the range of styles. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Screens 2Oct 31, 2008 4:08 pm Hi
You photos are not detailed enough for detailed advice. If you don't like aluminium flyscreens, I can only suggest vertical or horizontal roller screens. Yes - but they are there all the time... roller screens are only over the window when it's open. There might not be enough space on the window frame for both.
