Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Oct 05, 2008 9:32 am Hi could you please help me.
I have timber framed windows and doors throughout. They are a bit worn. I have a few questions about staining them. Photos are attached. 1. Given that stain is not opaque then if I get a stain that is not an exact match to what there is on there at the moment then what are the implications for that? I will try and match as best as possible. 2. Some of the frames have wall paint splashed on them (photo). How do I get that off? My concern is that if I sand it back enough to remove the paint (and the paint will be in the grains) then that may leave a relatively lighter patch than the parts I have not sanded so much (i.e. that didnt have paint stains). 3. In the situation where the door is a different colour wood to the frames. (My front door has been replaced) (see photo). How do I match it to the frames? Or should I just paint it as all of the other doors are painted rather than stained. I dont have much experience with sanding or painting. I really appreciate the advice people give me here because I dont have a car so it is hard to get around trades places to talk to people. Hi, I have an area of zincalume cladding encasing a number of external downpipes. Unfortunately one of them has been permanently stained by some diluted phosphoric acid -… 0 907 Okay, then the choice is really about the build quality of the door itself which means the brand name. Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3279 I don't know them all, the first 2 top of your list are best known.
