Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 May 31, 2020 8:54 am Hi everyone, Due to lots of factors (mainly the laziness of more than one concreters and I was not at home to supervise), I'm now living with a non compliant concrete footpath of 10m x 1m x 0.1m at the back of the house. The problem is that its only 35mm from the weepholes/DPC instead of minimum 50mm (in low rainfall area, not sure if mine is)/75mm as per standard. Due to the small size of the project, it's very unlikely that the concreters will come back to redo it. It's also very costly and time consuming to dispute via authorities. It's also too much expensive for me to hire someone else rip it up and do again So I'm now seeking to evaluate the risks and what I can do to mitigate (not eliminate) them and your input will be valuable. My questions are: 1. Since the weepholes are still visible and still 35mm from the concrete which slopes away, what kind of risks are we talking about here? 2. What else can we do to mitigate those risks? Will a cover extension help in that manner? 3. Is it so critical that I seriously should think about demolishing it and doing it all over again? What slope do you have and do you know the soil classification? Also, is water likely to dam at the side of the path? If you are Sydney metro, definitely not a low rainfall intensity area which has a 1:20 Average Recurrence Interval of 120mm or less per hour based on an average rainfall intensity of 2mm per minute over a 5 minute duration.
