I am trying to find some advice about crack control joints in a driveway. I read some of the Australian Standard and it states that they should be cut in within 24hrs of the pour. My concreter stated 96hrs (which I was ok with given the weather wasn't warm) - but now it has nearly been 4 weeks and he never cut them in!
Will this affect the overall integrity of the concrete? Should we still get them cut? We have noticed a few cracks already appearing...
Additionally, the quote stated coloured concrete (medium grey) - what we got was plain concrete that he says he is going to colour seal. I'd assume there was a pretty big cost difference for what we paid and what we got. He stated (after the pour was complete) that the place he got the concrete from didn't have the colour we wanted, so he decided to do a colour seal instead. Any info on a rough price difference per cubic meter would be greatly appreciated. Our driveway is approximately 13 cubic meters of concrete (or 130sqm at 10cm thick).

It won't hurt to do the cuts now but the damage has already been done.
The concrete will already have shrinkage cracks, you just may not be able to see them all yet and it will continue to open up as it dries and moves.
Any concreter with the slightest care factor will get those cuts done by the following morning. It's hard enough ensuring you don't get cracking even when you make every effort to minimise it.
The guy sounds like a typical concreting cowboy.
