Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 09, 2018 6:55 pm Hi, I have an issue with my driveway where the edge pavers have sunken slightly. There are now parts of the driveway where pavers are separating slightly. I have asked the builder to fix this as the house is only a year old. However, the builder is refusing and arguing that the pavers have sunk due to cars being parked close to the edge of the driveway. They say that pavers will sink if cars are driven or parked close to the edge. This seems ridiculous to me and a poor excuse. Before I lodge a building complaint I was hoping to get some advice/ insight on the issue. Cheers! I don't have the builders specifications but I do have the paving manufacturers name- Atlas pavers. I had a look at their paving guidelines which are shown below. I suppose I should pull up and edge paver and see if the builder has abided by these edge restraint guidelines. But even if they have, they must have not set the base or compacted properly for the edge to have collapsed...... From the photos I'd guess you're in WA ? There's a six year structural warranty on the driveway so if your builder is not coming to the party call the building commission. Your driveway has been haunched with a weak mortar mix. It should be done with concrete for structural stregnth and should extend to a third of the paver width underneath the paver. Regards Shaun Perhaps widen the hole a bit more and insert a nice piece of timber and make it an in counter knife block?? 2 1692 Appreciate that Chippy. I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 18578 |
