Hi all,
Does anyone know what type of agi drain is best for clay soils and does it need a plastic liner like builders film at the bottom for the pipe to sit on?
Much appreciated for any advice.

Re: AGI drains 6Jul 31, 2017 7:51 pm Kitty1 If the agi pipes is not sitting in clay then will not be as effective due to water will seep below the agi pipe level usually along the clay base if is relatively shallow. So you need to know the depth of clay and the depth of the proposed agi pipe A plastic liner along one side of the trench can be a very effective barrier to any moisture flow as long as it is on the side that you want to protect e.g. the house side. They are called cut off drains much more effective then standard agi drain. Geofabric will eventually block up with silt but might take a bit longer than not having it. There is another type of drain that claims never to block and that is a capillary drain. |
