I had my PC inception and my independent inspector noticed that the driveway is not 100 mm thick as it should be. He measured it in a few places around the edges a came up with (60 mm is next to the garage door, 70 mm and 80 mm). The builder obviously is not keen on re doing it and the main excuse is that the lower than 100 mm thickness is only around the edges so the driveway is fine.
I can prove that this lower thickness is still present at least 15 cm from the edge. I will call my inspector tomorrow but I'm trying to find as much information as possible so I have a few questions.
- Is there a way to fix this problem without re doing the driveway that will provide me with a driveway that is a strong as if the concrete was 100 mm right from the beginning?
- Is there an easy way to test thickness of concrete in multiple places that are for example in the middle of the driveway?
- I'm in Brisbane and found this on Brisbane City Council website which would suggest that the thickness should actually be even bigger: 125 mm. Do I understand it correctly?
Thanks!
