Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jan 18, 2017 12:14 pm My contractor says that he does things according to the Australian Building Standard. The concreting in my garage is currently levelled extremely bad. When it rained, the water in the garage stacked up and it reached levels of about 1-2cm at the far back of it. What should I do? Do I have any defence? What can I get from reporting it? When I asked the contractor, he said something along the lines of "it doesn't matter, what are you planning to do here?". Also, may I know how long it takes for a home to complete its final lock-up stage? From the stage of reporting that the home is finished to the council and when the inspector comes. I sincerely thank you for any help you may provide. Re: Failed Concrete? 2Jan 18, 2017 4:44 pm The Victorian building Authority publish a guide to standards and Tolerances. you can get it at : http://www.vba.vic.gov.au/__data/assets ... s-2015.pdf This says: Section 2.08 Levelness of concrete floors - Except where documented otherwise, new floors are defective if within the first 24 months of handover they differ in level by more than 10 mm in any room or area, or more than 4 mm in any 2 m length. The overall deviation of floor level to the entire building footprint shall not exceed 20 mm. Generally I reckon that lock up is at the half way stage of a build.
