After some advice here please. Our new build includes a concreted front porch area as part of the main slab. There is a front portico area (beneath the balcony) that butts onto the porch but is only strip footings as I understand it.
We had initially planned to have the porch tiled & the portico area decked but with the perimeter path bordering this we felt it was too mis-matched. So we're now looking at having the concreters lay a mini slab for the portico area to butt up against the already concreted porch, and then lay tiles over the whole lot if that makes sense?
Unfortunately the plans are already going thru council so it's not possible to change with the builder now and ask them to pour the slab out to include portico area.
Any thoughts on if we'd have some problems laying tiles over what would be a join in the concrete between porch and portico? There is apparently a fair bit of clay in the soil which means likely movement over time. I anticipate there's a good chance the tiles laid over the join will crack when the 2 sections of concrete move,
Any ideas or solutions please?
