Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Apr 19, 2016 5:48 pm HI Everyone Just getting a few quotes for concrete wondering if anyone can tell me rough area I should be able to get concreted for $3500 cash. Ive had a few quotes its all 80mm deep except the pad for the spa will be 100mm deep which is approx. 2400mm x 2500mm. The area is already pretty flat not soil to move and not much form work required either only at the ends as its buttin up to a retaining wall and the house slab. Ive had some pretty big differences in prices in some cases up to $1500. Re: Cost of Concrete and concretor 2Apr 19, 2016 8:09 pm Concretors typically don't charge per square metre on small jobs but quote on man days plus materials. As an absolute minimum one would be charged 2 man days. however is site prep is required and boxing/form work is required you would be up for 4 man days as a minimum. The cost of concrete $/m3 can be obtained from your nearest concrete batching plant plus the cost of steel from your local steel merchant In addition if the concrete truck cannot back up to the work area the cost of a concrete pump must be allowed for at a minimum charge of 4 hours (allow $800 to $1000 for the pump). Re: Cost of Concrete and concretor 3Apr 20, 2016 2:40 pm Doing it all myself with a truck delivering concrete I can do it for $25 m² at 100mm thick (thats the materials cost only) .
For you to have it done by a concretor it would be that materials cost, plus an hourly labour rate. It is anyones guess what that would be. For you to have it done by a concretor via cash in hand, I'd imagine it would start at a minimum of at least $40-$50 m² . Wow Im guessing your not near the hunter valley in nsw??? Id pay you a bit more than $25 and chuck in a couple of free cases as well. I have a feeling all the quotes im copping so far have been very well marked up for a tidy profit. Re: Cost of Concrete and concretor 5Apr 25, 2016 2:47 pm You misunderstood. , so i re edited the post above. Your materials cost will be $25 m². then figure out how many man hours it takes to do the boxing, set the steel reo,and manage the pour. Tradies generally wont work for less than $60 an hour, but most will try for $100+. IT is this variance that will be responsible for your wildly varying quotes. At a rough guess Id say $3500 should get you 60+m² slab. 4 hrs to box it, 4 hours for the pour using 2 men. Offer them cash and they still charge you a shipload! Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it?
