Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Dec 17, 2015 9:41 pm I am wondering when able flex must be used. Is there a building law on when it must be used and how do I go about finding it? Any help will be appreciated as I would like some guidance on the use of able flex as I've had a pathway/driveway put in and some places are able flexed some are not. By the way I'm in QLD If that helps Cheers Re: Expansion joint foam aka able flex 2Dec 22, 2015 9:29 pm No one can help with guidance on able flex? Re: Expansion joint foam aka able flex 3Dec 23, 2015 5:01 am Any concrete driveway I've been associated with had an expansion joint every 3.0 - 3.5m or so and a concrete path every 1.4 - 1.5m depending on what the engineer had called up in their drawings ( and the particular circumstances of the slab ) . It goes without saying that any of the above also need an EJ where the slab or path butts up against any masonry wall. I would use a can of expandable foam ( there are some that will take render) then cut it back and render over the top 1 4225 There is nothing in the various codes and standards that puts this requirement on the builder to do. I think that is what you are asking. Don't waste time trying to get… 5 2438 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.)
