Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Nov 25, 2015 8:52 pm Hi I'm about to lay 18m2 of white Himalayan sandstone and looking for recommendations for sealers. I've looked and figure I'm after a penetrating sealing as don't want to change to look of them. Has anyone used this sealer? http://diysuperstore.com.au/sealer-4l.html Also be nice if I can use any unused sealer on 5m2 of grey limestone/ basalt. Thanks Re: Paver sealer recommendations 2Dec 03, 2015 1:06 pm As you have mentioned either a Solvent based or Water based penetrating sealer is fine. For around 18sqm of sandstone you will probably need around 3-5 litres of product. For that size area price is probably not a real issue as you're not looking at 100+sqm to seal. If you are looking to seal the basalt with the remainder I'd go for a solvent based product as you probably won't get the best penetration with a water based on this particular stone. Something like this will do: http://miteq.com.au/products/penetratin ... ealer-103/ Our product will set you back around $180.00/ 4ltr container. Main difference is generally in performance, hence the higher price tag (and the 'ol saying you get what you pay for!!). The cheaper the product the more times you generally have to apply and the lower the life expectancy. Good luck with the search. Re: Paver sealer recommendations 4Mar 03, 2016 7:25 pm Mb21 how did you go with picking a sealer? I was considering the miteq 103 for my bluestone pavers but unlike many of the other high end sealers like Aquamix Deepshield etc miteq has only half the coverage per litre compared to them, making it extremely expensive. Has anyone used Peneguard product ? Re: Paver sealer recommendations 5Mar 22, 2016 10:34 am Crazyk Mb21 how did you go with picking a sealer? Has anyone used Peneguard product ? This information is incorrect. Our coverage rates are comparable to most of our competitors. As an average most stones will use around 5-6sqm/litres of product as a 2 coat application. Based on this a 4ltr container will do 24sqm of paving, a 20ltr container around 80-100sqm of paving. Don't be fooled by those quoted up to 20sqm/litre of usage, this will not usually happen on most of the products coming into Australia. Not sure who you spoke to then as I am the only one in sales and with all due respect have never given the wrong information when it comes to how far my product goes. As for application rates these can be found in my previous statement. You should always to a test first however as these rates are a guide only and porosity can differ not only from tile to tile but even within a tile! Re: Paver sealer recommendations 8Mar 23, 2016 2:34 pm Ok so if I compare the data on each website. This is for porous bluestone Miteq = 3-4m2/lt Aquamix = 8-12m2/lt So I would say my statements are factual Understand the variation in natural products Re: Paver sealer recommendations 9Mar 27, 2016 7:14 am Hi Crazyk I used a sealer called NanoPhos C. Was cheap and go a good deal on it with my pavers. Just need to use it now! Crazyk Mb21 how did you go with picking a sealer? It's a natural stone that absorbs liquid. I would consider that porous. Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms?
