Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Nov 10, 2015 6:07 pm Hi all, Firstly I would like to say how good this site is, been snooping for a few months and decided to join in on the great community here. Maybe I can pass on some knowledge here and there, lets say I've made one or two mistakes and found out the hard way. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to concrete and my old folks place has some urgent work needed around the garage. Wondering how best to fix this issue. I've attached some pictures but basically the concrete slab in front of the garage has raised up and is creating issues when it rains heavily. Didn't realize this was happening until I stayed over one weekend and walked out to the garage to see a pool of water. Culprit the slab not running the water off towards the grid and instead running in through the side of the garage. What I was wondering, is it worth raising the concrete under the garage door with more concrete or pulling up the slab that's raised? The slab connected to the grid is slanting towards the grid which is perfect but it's just too high for the garage slab! Cheers Scott Re: Raised Concrete Help Around Garage 2Nov 14, 2015 9:51 am Hi Scott, The best fix is ripping out and relaying the raised panel. And make sure that they bolt the new panel to the garage so that it doesnt raise again. I imagine that will cost something like $1000-$1500. The cheapest fix would be to get a grinder (with diamond blade) and make a cut or two to channel the water to the grate. Although you will still be left with that trip hazard. But you could bevel the edge if you were real handy with a grinder. Then you'll know. 3 8490 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8324 |
