Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Oct 13, 2015 8:45 am Hi All, We recently had a concreter come out to assess and quote our concrete footpath/apron around the house. We found that the access point for our sewerage has been placed in such a place that it will be half set into the concrete if we go with a 1 metre apron. What is annoying is that the location of this access point is not shown on any of our plans. The builder says it cannot be relocated and needs to stay there. Can anyone advise what options we have. The only one I can think of is to extend the back footpath to 'wrap around' this ugly thing. Can we get another cover for it or do we have to use the concrete cover provided? http://i1371.photobucket.com/albums/ag297/joeassi/IMG_3410_zpser0akcu8.jpg Thanks in advance, Joe Assi Re: Sewerage Access in way of Footpath 2Oct 13, 2015 1:32 pm What you have in that picture is a basic (cheap) IO cover and Frame. The basic thing that is required is a strong easy to remove cover over the inspection shaft. A couple of Options are A. Instead of using the precast frame cast a new frame for the existing cover in the path concrete. B. Cast a Cast iron cover and frame in the concrete path. Although obvious it will be much smaller( see Flanged I.O. cover and frame • Type 1 at this link for an example http://www.ri-industries.com.au/commerc ... -openings/) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! I will have a look at both options, but that pre-cast cover and frame look like a much better option. I will try and find some locally (Vic). P.S Thank you for your PCI guide. It really helped us out during our PCI. Re: Sewerage Access in way of Footpath 5Oct 15, 2015 8:13 am Crazyk Thanks CrazyK. Will look into that too. Thank you. http://i1371.photobucket.com/albums/ag297/joeassi/IMG_3430_zpsp7fs10mb.jpg Re: Sewerage Access in way of Footpath 7Oct 18, 2015 8:24 pm I have opened plenty of these when I was still working in the sewage business and wouldn't be too upset with the 150mm. Just don't screw that plastic cap on too hard. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
