I have seen stencilled driveways in my time that have been painted over with one solid colour, but you could still see that it previously was stencilled, so just keep that in mind.

Just be cautious of that "professional"
My employer, dulux group australia, who owns Berger, who make Australia's biggest selling paint for this kind of thing, do not recommend it for stencilled driveways.

Reason being, the stencilled system is always coated with a sealer, and that sealer has silicones in it, which will shed that coat of paint very quickly.
Honestly a dye or stain is the way to go.
