Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Sep 16, 2014 5:05 pm Hi Everyone, I am planning to convert 16 sq meters of my back yard to a patio section. The aim is to get a french pattern design and greyish brown colour similar to the top part of the link below: http://pic.stonecontact.com/picture/201 ... 151-1B.jpg Doing a lot of research and planning and will be using a 100-150mm depth road base compacted followed by a 30 mm depth bedding sand layer. From what I have been reading the general recommendation is that pavers should be at least 60mm thick unless you use a concrete base then you can get away with 30mm and less thickness. None of the recommendations however vary specifically based on the material of the pavers used I was looking at getting a combination of Kota Blue and Kota Brown pavers. The problem is that I cant seem to find any limestone pavers Kota or no Kota that are 60mm thick. Most are 30mm or less. So the question I have keeping in mind that a concrete base is not an option is. What paver material and thickness can I get away with that will provide me with a suitable, stable patio surface for outdoor setting and foot passageway to achieve a similar result in the pic which will last and not be vulnerable to crack. Thanks Paul Different to what others have said but thanks for that insight. 2 5230 Not recommended! The image presented is for a sublevel area.
