I have just been through the process of widening our crossover to make it a double and the whole process was a lot easier than I expected. First the council guy came out with his paint and marked where he wanted the new crossover to be. Next we got some quotes. Once we had the quotes we obtained a 'road opening' permit from the local council (walked in, paid the money and walked out in the space of 10 minutes) Then the guys came and put the crossover in as requested... We have some houses in our estate doing it without permits and getting caught...
We were quoted about $750 to do ours but only by about 1/2 m extra....seems a bit much for 1/2 m extension, (not including council permit costs either). Yours looks good Matt, it would really help you getting into the garage! Can you park 2 cars on the driveway now? So did you have to replace the pavement too? We were told that we had to take the pavement back 2 sections down from the driveway and make it a minimum of 150 instead of the standard 100mm? I think we'll suck it and see when we get into the house and see if we really need an extension or not.... Re: Extending the driveway crossover... 5Jun 03, 2008 2:35 pm Was knox council Zonk!
And including the 3 footpath bays that had to be redone (to 150mm thickness??) it was around $3000... Nothing wider is allowed:( If your patio is going to be 35 sqm then that's going to need Council Approval. The fact that they previously approved your 25sqm patio will be irelevant 1 5503 Ask for some kickplate to be added and also for tradies to be requested to use lanyards on tools on that side of the building.
