Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 May 19, 2008 7:16 pm I have a question regarding our garage slab.
The front of our garage has a lip which is pretty standard on Henley homes i think, but ours seems to be a bit off. Here are some pics: Our garage, front RHS: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here's one at a similar angle from another Henley home in our street: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our brickwork has been notched out to accomodate for the extra bit of slab. But the one down the street hasn't been. Our S/S is already aware of it since our garage door is on, it is much more noticeable. One of the concreter's picked it up on the weekend while quoting for the driveway and suggested that the builder saw cut the concrete to make it level with where the the garage door meets the concrete. Otherwise we will have the driveway ending and then about 7.5cm's of grey concrete then the garage door. The driveway will be the same level as the mortar between the first and second course of brickwork to give you an indication of heights. Hopefully it is being addressed tomorrow on-site so will keep you informed, its not that big a deal as long as the excess concrete is removed. I thought i'd ask what everyone's thoughts are anyway: Re: Our garage Slab 2May 19, 2008 7:30 pm *P* I haven't looked at a panel lift door install before but if this is yours....and the door is supposed slide in the track

Mike, you've confused me??? Both pics that you reposted are of our place. Yes the garage door will slide down the rail shown in the picture but should look like the last two pics i posted. In my original post the first 3 pics were our house and the second two were from a Henley house down the street. Their slab does not come out and forward of the door itself. On that house, the slab finishes where the door comes down. Re: Our garage Slab 4May 19, 2008 8:12 pm OK got you, I thought you were referring to a different photo....
On the first photo does the door seal completely on the garage slab? mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Our garage Slab 5May 19, 2008 9:28 pm to_do_list OK got you, I thought you were referring to a different photo.... On the first photo does the door seal completely on the garage slab? No it doesn't, there is a gap because the lip (on the LHS of the pic) does not go all the way across the entire width of the door. On the first photo does the door seal completely on the garage slab? No it doesn't, there is a gap because the lip (on the LHS of the pic) does not go all the way across the entire width of the door. On our previous house we had quite a large western facing roller door (which is not as stiff as the panel lift and therefore doesn't maybe seal as well) there was a spot in the middle of the slab which had a slight dip in it and the rain would be driven into the garage about half way through. And we had a good six inches of garage concrete hanging out the front and therefore should have been flat. Not a lot of water mind you but enough to be annoying except when we had a couple of those freaky storms and you'd get a puddle of a few square metres. Whilst not helping with you original question may be worth looking keeping in mind. I'm sure it can be sawcut, but if you want them to cut 7.5 cm's off they may be cutting through reo..... Sorry, not presenting many solutions here...... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Our garage Slab 7May 19, 2008 10:24 pm Hmm will just have to wait and see what eventuates tomorrow i suppose?
Thanks anyway Mike? Won't you have a gap between the door and the brickwork....looks like about an inch off the pillar ? The wheels for a panel-lift, that go in that track, are actually mounted on a bracket that is fixed to the back of the panel, so the actual panel does sit forward of the track, and fills that gap nicely.
