Hi Forumers,
Maybe a quick question. Quite possible a long question. I am looking at building a new house soon and have the scary task of deciding the footings.
I have bought myself a couple of books and googled everywhere to find my answer but to no avail . I have been told by two close friends who are excavators that the estate I am building is full of blue stone. Now my block slops from rear to front 1.5m and the length of the slope is roughly 30.5m. I have had mixed emotions of whether I take a risk and cut and fill or build on a slope.
I understand how the cut and slope works but how do the foundations get created on a sloping block. My thought was that you would have to section the block into areas and cut "level" to get the foundations. Whats peoples opinions on building on sloping blocks. I would have thought that you end up in the same boat $ wise. As you save money on excavations but labourers find it a little harder. Thanks in advance for your advice .
