Concreting around house.

Hi
What sort of damage do you mean?
Hi Snuck
Several people have mentioned that you should have a minimum 900mm concrete path around a house to stop soil expanding and contracting adjacent the slab when it gets wet and dries out. Is this not an issue?
Might depending on the type of soil. Clay or sand etc. In much of Perth with sandy soils it would be unlikely to be an issue but where you built on clay perhaps it might be.
The vast majority of homes ever built do not have concrete paving all around them. Its not a building necessity and not something you need to stop damage happening its just something that lessens the chance of damp problems which should be a small risk anyway on a properly constructed property. Concreting your whole block would lessen the chances further but you don't have to do it. The house would have been built with a damp course so no damage should have been done if that damp course is above ground level. . But get it checked out if something looks wrong.

Concreting over concrete?

General Discussion

Just get as close as you can without hitting the posts. Once you are close to the edge of the path the chance of cracking is minimised.
