Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Sep 14, 2013 8:26 am 3 weeks ago, I had a plain concrete drive I installed at my house. Some of my neighbours have told me I should seal it. I've never heard of this being done on plain concrete before (other than internal garage floors). Can anyone give me some advice? It's still nice and clean and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm also not keen on a glossy finish. Are there Matt/Satin products out there? Re: Brand new Plain Concrete Driveway - Sealer? 2Sep 16, 2013 9:59 am Sealing is personal choice. Always has been always will be. The reason we seal is to ensure that the product being sealed will remain looking newer for longer (which is your reasoning). It also keeps stains to the surface making removal easier. It sounds like you are after a penetrating sealer that won't change the look of your driveway. Water based will probably be the better option for you as being concrete it won't absorb as much product while still giving excellent results. Google "Sealer 102" for some info. There are plenty of people out there that do this sort of thing. If I can help, ask. Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 5713 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9831 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10929 |
