Paving & Concreting

we are looking to paint the existing pavements with the same colour as the roof tiles (light burgundy).
the size of the pavement is about (width 4m, length 21m). There are few cracks.
1. how much do you think it will cost for DIY vs hiring a contractor
2. for DIY; what are the main steps?

The pavement is made of concrete?
I'm not an expert, but I wouldn't think it would be too hard to DIY - http://www.bunnings.com.au/learn-how-to ... videoId=66

Main thing would be prepping the surface correctly.

We painted concrete at home... Just cleaned it and painted it with Berger Jet Dry paint. That was 5yrs ago and it looks fine.
Brought first house in 2008.
Built in 2013.

There are quite a few tinted acrylic sealers out there from Jet Dry, Crommelin or Parchem etc. They are all good but like anything it comes down to prep work to ensure good penetration and longevity. The concrete must be very clean and dry before application and you want to do 2 - 3 coats of tinted sealer. It is something you can do yourself or a professional cleaning and sealing company would probable charge between $30 - $40 /m2 inc suppling the sealer.
If your worried about cracks and chips in the concretes surface a polymer concrete overlay can be applied to resurface the path.

Chances are your Pavement is hydrostatic so a Paint will peel and flake off pretty fast ... Stain it , breathable , doesn't flake or peel , totally natural looking and easy to apply
