Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 May 17, 2013 12:50 pm Hi all, We are building an extension on piersm sticking out 400+ from ground to bearer. We want to have a paved/tiled area outside the extension, roughly at the same level of the indoor floor (though I think BCA may require it slightly lower, 50 or so). What would be the standard practice for achieving this, i.e do we do a retaining wall where the dirt meets the house and put a slab ontop of that for under the pavers (or even just compacted dirt)? I don't really want a suspended floor for outdoor tiling, but I'm curious about what happens where the dirt wall meets the extension subfloor in terms of termites, moisture and ventillation. Any suggestions?
