Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 26, 2013 10:10 pm Greetings, Planning OB house, on a tight budget, due to retirement income Polished is outside the budget, but need to use the slab as the mass, so won't be covered. Looking at Livos oil, over base as laid. So, the queries from a novice. The Standards can lead to a 20mm difference across the slab. Does this need grinding or levelling? As polished concrete needs 100mm ? instead of the normal 80mm ?, would this apply here as well? Now for the fall. Bathroom and Ensuite. Thinking of using Laminam/Kerlite for the flooring, and wall splashbacks. These are only 3mm, plus adhesive base. 3mx1m sheets. Look to be cost effective. Also using stainless rectangular drain grate, at the shower doors, so there would be a fall from rear of shower to door, and a longer run from rest of room to shower door and drain grate. ( hope that makes sense ) Is this done at slab pour time or later? Hate to think of parts of slab being ripped up, if it could be done in one go. Or, should I say, experienced and skilled concrete professionals can easily manage such detail. I will finish soon. What detailed Specifications should be included in the documentation to (presumably) ensure it all is done properly? Anything missed? Edit: I missed, asking what machinery is used, a Levelling Machine and/or a Grinder? Anticipated costs? tezz, In VIC, if that helps... Re: Slab levelling & fall 2Mar 29, 2013 6:54 am Sounds like fun....n games. If you want to achieve 100mm finished thickness then the sand screed beneath the concrete would be profiled to get the falls to achieve 100 mm thickness. Good luck also on getting it flat. I don't see the reasoning. But whatever floats your boat. In any case if you want flat n smooth it will still need grinding. Where you are coming from is where you are going to...
