Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jan 19, 2013 9:01 pm Hi, we have 35 Mt2 of an old concrete driveway and about to extend it with another 30Mt2 of new concrete. We are having trouble deciding on A) remove the old driveway, start fresh and use coloured concrete or B) add a new section of concrete then use a epoxy coating over it all old and new. I'm not sure about epoxy coatings even though it seems they have changed over the years-any views would be appreciated.I have seen one where they scatter flakes over during the process but can't find the company in Perth. I wonder if the colour of the coating would be look different on the new( light)and old( slightly stained and darker) concrete or will it be an even colour? Anybody know any companies that do this work.? We're About to do a heap of work to our front yard. This is the first jobon the very long list...hope we have our order right. Thanks everyone ...the journey begins Re: Polyaspartic concrete coating for driveway 2Feb 08, 2013 2:12 pm Epoxy coating with flake is very attractive and incredibly durable. However I would certainly not recommend it for any outdoor area, particularly a driveway. The problem is that epoxy is totally waterproof, so your concrete slab is going to absorb water when it rains and as this water will then have nowhere to go, hydrostatic pressure could well make the epoxy coating lift. A far better solution would be to have the area properly prepared and then spray paved with a polymer-cement mixture, and then sealed. There is a huge choice of colours and finishes and there are many companies that do this type of thing. Good luck. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9861 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10939 |
