Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Oct 30, 2012 12:13 pm Hey all, I am planning to build a wood fired bbq and a pizza oven at the end of the deck. The total area would be around 2m sq, but as the deck raises about 300mm from the ground level I would like the slab to come upto just below the deck (280mm may be). Would I need to put in foam? there will be a rebar, and as the the bbq and oven will be built with brick and stones it will be fairly heavy. I am debating between DIY or getting some one. as its a small job i do not think many would want to do it. thanks Re: Concrete slab - small one 4Oct 30, 2012 12:58 pm What I would be doing is cleaning off all loose soil. Pack the centre with Packing sand and leave a trench all the way around. Put Mesh on top and then place additional reo bar on the bottom of the footing. You will need to box it up with timber to the hight you need. Make sure you allow for at least 100mm cover for concrete. To pour concrete use a cement mixer. You will only need around 3 full wheelbarrows. Re: Concrete slab - small one 6Oct 30, 2012 2:09 pm I would say 150mm on the perimter will be more than enough (wide). In terms of height i would just let it sit on natural ground upto the finished hight you are after - you mention 280 mm. This should end up pretty strong. Since you only need a small amount of steel i would go around new estate and see if you can find some off cuts of SL82 left over from a house slab. Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up. I am not sure how to go about getting it repaired… 0 8100 The concreter will take and reuse. In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists. 1 3524 yep, clearly mark where the infloor heating pipes are before drilling or nailing 1 5461 |
