Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Sep 05, 2012 2:35 am Hi everyone, I have got a credit back for all the brick pavers that were included when building with Plunkett now i'm doing some research on some other driveway matireals besides brick pavers. We would like to get a concrete driveway but then I've heard of liquid limestone too.. I'm a bit confused now and hoping someone can help me on here What is the difference in strength and price? Is one more suited for driveway use than the other? We would like to get a really light grey or cream coloured driveway just plain nothing flash, Cheers, Builder Plunkket Homes. Re: Concrete vs liquid limestone driveway? 2Sep 08, 2012 5:39 pm Hi BIGZ We currently have a liquid limestone driveway and alfresco area...the driveway is reinforced with mesh and supposed to be 100mm thick and the alfresco not reinforced and a thickness of 55mm... We had to have some of our drive lifted due to the council putting in a footpath and the thickness was only about 70mm!!!! and the reinforcing was at the bottom of the limestone not in the middle (so was an absolute waste of time putting it in there!) I guess with whatever type you choose just make sure that you get what you pay for! We have deleted our paving on the house we are building and have not yet decided which way to go. I still love the limestone, but possibly thinking exposed aggregate this time but will have to look into contractors in our area to see who does what and for how much... I would recommend sealing whatever you choose too...we did and it still looks good almost 5 years on... Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9863 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10947 |
