Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Aug 29, 2012 9:29 pm I have about 15sqm of paving to do over the weekend. It will be the end section of my carport (back yard) and then a pathway. I am going to mix in cement powder before it is compacted Base depth, how deep a sand bed is best? How much sand should i be ordering? 2 Re: Paving - Sand and how much? 2Sep 05, 2012 11:09 am Sand type? I am going to mix in cement powder before it is compacted Only premium white sand will do. You wouldn't want to "wack" the sand nor mix it with cement. You would do that with the b grade crushed rock you will put underneath the sand. Base depth, how deep a sand bed is best? An inch (25mm) is fine. Make sure that if the sand is wet, that you lightly compact the sand as you go. If you don't, your pavers will slowly compact the sand themselves and leave hills. Best is to level with dry premium white sand which does not require any further compacting or use mentioned method. How much sand should i be ordering?
