Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Aug 28, 2012 1:07 pm Hi guys, i recently bought a house and the old owner used left over bricks to pave the driveway, HOWEVER,he placed the bricks straight onto mud, he did not place any crushed rock, sand or moisture proof membrance at all. Now i have weeds growing out of the gaps of the pavers and the drive way is uneven and some parts sunk due to the weight of the cars, when it rains i will have water pools everywhere. SO, i was thinking of pouring a new driveway with concrete, but it will cost too much time and energy to remove every single brick that's already stuck on the ground, instead, maybe i could just pour my new slab straight onto those bricks, that may even save a lot of concrete. I am not sure if that is going to work or not? Need expert advise guys, thanks ! Re: Can you pour concrete driveway slab onto brick pavers 2Aug 28, 2012 6:17 pm 'IF' the driveway is firm now it should be OK as long as: 1. You apply a total long lasting weedkiller 2. You level the surface first with gravel 3. You put a reasonable depth slab in place (at least 100mm with reinforcement) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 18575 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9863 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10947 |
