Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 26, 2008 7:12 pm Hey gang,
Our builder has quoted $2,800 for a 40m2 coloured concrete driveway and path to the front door. Is this reasonable? I have no idea how much a driveway would cost if someone else did it. Also, if the builder doesn't do the driveway, who does do it? Landscapers? The idea of having a plain concrete one depresses me. Are driveways something that a landscaper does? Re: Average cost for a driveway? 5Mar 27, 2008 3:15 pm DJ, there have been a few threads on Exposed Aggregate, do a quick search and i'm sure you'll find them...
BTW, there are plenty of Landscapers including our own fellow member : davinci that can do the driveway + more or you can also get the dedicated concreters to quote as well... Lookup the yellow pages there are plenty around....make sure you check out their work...they are not all the same!!!! We'll be getting quotes soon too so let us know how you go? Re: Average cost for a driveway? 6Mar 27, 2008 3:18 pm Thanks Phoenix -- I'm seriously considering pulling all the landscaping + driveway stuff out of the builder contract and just getting one landscaper to do the front garden, path and driveway as well as the alfresco decking and backyard. Seems much simpler overall. Re: Average cost for a driveway? 7Mar 27, 2008 8:00 pm Hi there all,
OUr builder (Edenbrae Sydney) has quoted $3000 for a 30 sq mt driveway in plain concrete - no stencilling, no colour, just plain grey concrete - yuck. From boundary to garage only. Plus an extra $2000 if we want coloured concrete !!!! RIDICULOUS ! Does anybondy know what would be the ball-park figure for a contractor to build the driveway in coloured/tinted concrete, excluding excavation? We'd love a dark grey/slate coloured driveway. Re: Average cost for a driveway? 8Apr 07, 2008 11:08 pm Our 40 m2 driveway is costing $2800 for 400 x 400 x 55 reconstituted stone.
Re: Average cost for a driveway? 9Apr 08, 2008 7:32 am You'll pay anywhere between $60 and $100 per square metre for a stencilled driveway. If you're getting a large area concreted the price per square metre will be lower.
For 30 sq metres anything upto $3000 would be reasonable for a stencilled driveway. But shop around and get a few quotes and you should be able to get it a bit cheaper then this. Definitely do not let the builder do it. You'll get ripped off. Re: Average cost for a driveway? 12Apr 22, 2008 5:06 pm jamiet I got quoted $70 per square metre for a coloured concrete driveway (ex. excavating) in Sydney by a reputable landscaper. Hi jamiet, was that for coloured-through concrete or for top layer only? Thanks Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Average cost for a driveway? 13Aug 02, 2014 2:05 pm Hi all Wondering if anyone gotten a quote on a coloured driveway in Sydney recently? What is the average people are paying? We are looking at a driveway + around the house + pavement to the granny flat we are looking to build. We got a quote of $110 per sqm recently. But the rate per sqm starts to climb on smaller jobs. As it happens Im actually sat infront of my computer right now recalculating my cost per sqm today after working out it costs me $57 (i was shocked) in materials and machinery ownership/maintenance costs to lay 1sqm of exposed aggregate on an avg job (60sqm) with a 32mpa exposed mix costing $350 per cube and SL82 reo. Thats before labour costs. Labour costs: $450 labour prep costs not including me helping $450 labour pour costs not including me helping $200 exposing wash $200 cut, pressure wadsh and further acid wash $200 sealing $200 site clean So 60sqm @ 57per sqm = $3420 product cost plus $1700 labour costs And this is assuming a simple job. The 60sqm costs me $5,120 $110/sqm = $6,600 This is the low profit margin that you get when speccing the concrete correctly and not cutting corners but still having to compete on price with those that do. Also bear in mind most jobs do have extras over the sqm rate. Like excavation and installation of drains. Anyway i have got to get back to my highly confidential business costings! Coloured concrete is around $500 dollars more, stamped concrete is around $700 more and exposed aggregate is around $1400 more. Re: Average cost for a driveway? 17Dec 10, 2014 5:04 pm Has anyone done a driveway apron with decomposed granite, such as ANL's Deco Gold? I'm looking for a surface strong enough to take the weight of a truck (in case of delivery of soil, and also the garbage truck tends to use our apron to turn around), but look softer than concrete, and ideally water can drain through. Have been quoted around 5-8k through our builder. From the sounds of this thread we are getting ripped off!!! How did you work out your m2 for the driveway? this isn't on our plan. Re: Average cost for a driveway? 20May 03, 2016 9:56 pm $100/m2 is reasonable for colour-through all-inclusive (in Sydney). Just measure the distance from the garage to the road x the width of the garage. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9830 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10926 |
