Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Feb 05, 2012 12:08 pm We are just about to build in the Alpine area of Northern Victoria and have been advised by our builder that we should consider a Waffle Pod slab as it 'may' help with insulation during the colder months of the year. Our builder has not said that we should use the system, but just that it an option to consider. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Waffle Pod system and whether it will really help with the insulation of the house. Thanks. We have had several people tell us that it would help with the insulation of the house, but it seems the general consensus is that it will not make much, if any, difference? Re: Waffle Pod Slab - Insulation advantages? 6Feb 27, 2012 11:02 am Once you get more than about 1m down the temperature is fairly constant (around 16-20 degrees) So there isn't a lot of heat loss downwards. If you are looking at building a solar passive house you will actually have less thermal mass as waffle pod slabs are usually a bit thinner. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Waffle Pod Slab - Insulation advantages? 7Feb 28, 2012 7:37 pm Thanks everyone.
