Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jan 27, 2012 2:17 pm Hi everyone, My fiancé and I are building a new home in northwest Brisbane and are looking to get some quotes for a stencilled concrete driveway. We have a small issue in that the estate developer installed a semi-mountable kerb (quite a steep angle) and a short section of concrete driveway from kerb to our front boundary which is unsuitable, as my mister's car is lowered and would scrape badly on a semi-mountable kerb. Lastly, our block has a fall of approx 0.76m across where we'd want the driveway to go... we have a very sloping block so nothing is simple (or cheap). So... firstly, I would love to hear how much anyone else has paid per sqm for stencilled concrete so we know what sort of price to look for. Secondly, does anyone have experience with paying your concreter to re-do your kerbing and what are the associated costs? This would include breaking up and removal of existing kerbing. Thirdly, any thoughts on how we manage the side to side slope of the driveway? Do we have to level it out somehow, install retaining or just have a sloping driveway? Lastly, has anyone used a concreter around Bris that they would recommend? When you get a chance watch the last couple of videos. The cracks are pretty bad, it's almost as though he hasn't put any reo in that corner and hasn't compacted/levelled… 2 3366 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 7399 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 9078 |
