Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Dec 17, 2011 10:47 pm well our woes continue with this frustrating builder. The latest issue is that our slab has been poured and when the frames were marked out where they go i noticed some of the drainage for the main bathroom was infact in the 4th bedroom. turns out the plumber f$#&*d up the main bathroom plumbing by 450mm. The site supervisor assures me that it is not a big problem, but from where i stand and the 1/4 million dollar investment i am putting in, it is a MASSIVE ERROR! Has anyone else had this issue? was it resolved painlessly? Should we be chasing some sort of compensation? Re: What to do???? Slab poured and Drainage in Wrong spot? 2Dec 17, 2011 11:17 pm It's up to the builder to fix it. Probably involves cutting the slab and redirecting to the plumbing. I'm sure it happens often. If the concrete cut isn't all the way through to the bottom that would be a good start. I'd want to be there to take photographs after the cut and after the jobs done. Post them here for some non-professional opinions. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: What to do???? Slab poured and Drainage in Wrong spot? 3Dec 17, 2011 11:50 pm We had three of our pipes in slightly the wrong spot. It wasn't a big deal and they were fixed adequately and to our satisfaction. One was 1 of 2 sewerage pipes from upstairs which was meant to be in the downstairs wall cavity. It ended up being in the hallway. Another was the powder room toilet wasn't centered in the 'space'. For both of these, the slab was dug out, pipes moved and slab fixed. You would never know! I'll post photos possibly tomorrow (on my phone at the moment!). Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... Slab poured and Drainage in Wrong spot? 4Dec 18, 2011 12:40 am For those of you who have had drain relocations done, how deep was the trench, and did the drain protrude above the floor level? Our kitchen drain was relocated, but the pipe is above floor level by around 20mm ... is this deep enough, factoring in that its to be tiled over? Re: What to do???? Slab poured and Drainage in Wrong spot? 5Dec 18, 2011 12:41 pm I'm not a plumber, but applying logic, I think even a zero protrusion is OK. When joining pipes, the upstream pipe needs to fit inside the downstream pipe. Therefore, no protruding lip is required. A plumber on these forums may be able to confirm.
