Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Nov 30, 2011 6:55 am Hey, So I had some treated pine delivered for some landscaping. I parked the timber on the exposed ag concrete around the back. A few days later...it pretty much rained from 8am to 7pm. Now I have timber stains all over the concrete. How can I/what can I do or use to get rid of these stains? If I don't, the missus will probably kill me considering the concrete is barely 3 months old. Thanks in advance. Re: Timber stains on concrete...HELP! 8Dec 03, 2011 11:19 pm Treated pine is normally treated with arsenic isnt it? I always thought by buying treated wood that it protects it from the weather, if so then it cant be very protecting if it washes off with water, strange indeed, I would look into what treatment method they used for that wood from the people your purchased it from and then maybe finding out how to remove that from your brand new concrete slab (if at all possible) and if the treating material was washed off by the rain doesnt that mean the wood needs to be treated again? thats the questions id be asking the shop. How about soda blasting? that may or may not work, maybe try alittle area to see if it works on concrete stains, I think sand blasting is too harsh and may ruin your smooth concrete finish. It will remove these stains no problem. The longer you leave them, the harder it will be to remove however. Basically it is a chlorine based cleaner so if you feel like using str8 chlorine go for it. DO NO USE HYDRO-CHLORIC ACID. Re: Timber stains on concrete...HELP! 12Nov 21, 2015 9:41 am I read that bleach works, so I went and grabbed the bottle from my cupboard and starting working. It was amazing how well it worked. The stains just disappeared at a touch or the sponge. Then my husband said he was smelling fish and chips, and looked at my container. It was plain old VINEGAR! But, believe it or not, It really works. Maybe I should do ad for @Spec savers. Re: Timber stains on concrete...HELP! 13Jun 13, 2018 8:21 am Tanin stains are Best removed with oxalyc acid. This is what timber coating products use as a prewash to remove the tannins as a base agent. It used to be called “oxalyc acid” by diggers in Bunnings. It’s now called “rust and stain remover”. Still made by diggers. It comes in a powder/granular form which you mix with water. Wet down surface to clean. Apply mix (use bucket and brush). Leave for 10 mins then thoroughly rinse with water. Repeat if necessary. ive been doing this successfully for 20 years.
