A concreter told me that instead ripping out the old concrete driveway (two strips & grass in the middle), he can put the new concrete on top of the exisiting one.
Would this work reliable and normal practice?
any concerns for me?

Because the existing concrete provides a stronger foundation than the middle strip you could well get reflective cracking in the new slab above the join.
