Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Nov 01, 2011 9:00 am Hope someone can assist (Onc / DaVinci ). We are having our slab poured tomorrow for our pool house. The concretor wants to know what finish we want. Now I hate rough surfaces - ie aggregate etc but understand that steel trowel finish would more then likely be too slippery once the sealer is applied. So who can tell me (and preferably show me pics) what is a finish between steel trowel and the finish of a driveway called? Is there one? Or am I going to be stuck with a driveway type finish (that I still think is too rough?) Thank you Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Different Textures available in Finish? 2Nov 02, 2011 9:35 am I'm pretty sure a "stipple" finish is what you are after. As for the sealer I think you can get sealers that don't just sit on top of the concrete. I've seen some that look like paint after they are dry and they look like they just keep any moisture off the surface and allow it to sit on top, but others that don't look any different. You will probably be wanting a stipple or broom finish, but a broom finish can wear away after a few years do I am told. Re: Different Textures available in Finish? 3Nov 03, 2011 7:11 am kyton you are right, the non-machine finish is very hard to sweep etc. Maybe I'd still opt for a machine finish, provided that there are some anti-slip coatings/sealers that you could apply (haven't investigated if there are any, but I've heard of such thing for tiles, so thinking that there must be something for concrete too)... My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... yep you need a joint, foam is easiest, will look fine once rendered with a joint. 2 5243 Hi, have purchased a house with 2 single garage doors.
