Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Oct 30, 2011 8:06 pm G'day, Nice forum you have here, will come here from now on, Since I have been doing paving in the backyard and nearly finished paving, I've bought far too many off ebay (yes second hand pavers and turned out great) Since our front driveway - 6x7m wide, I have just enough Pavers to do the driveway. (Pavers are 190x190x40mm thick) Why? 3 reasons - Because its ugly and the cement slab has collapsed by 30-40mm (in some areas & minor crack in centre), down due poor leveling/not compacted underneath it, I've already discussed about raising the cement ($2750) and costs too much or unless I've asked wrong person and 3rd reason - whenever it rains - the half of the driveway is flooded and leaves behind slimy mud run off from the road... - Raised Pavers will fix that. Anyway the idea came to my mind due the size of the paver thickness is perfect to line up the step of cement and would like to pave the driveway section. Now I am not a fan of laying pavers on cement - I would like to ask for other people's opinion/ideas etc..... One idea came to my mind was to use Tiling Adhesive which I have buckets of it from past renos in the bathroom rather using sand underlay. Any other ideas? Thankyou Cheers AP Re: Paving on Cement Slab area 2Oct 30, 2011 8:12 pm I had a quote last week for a paved driveway and the recommendation was to first lay a 50mm thick concrete slab then later glue the pavers in place with exterior grade tile adhesive and grout as required. I didn't even bother getting a quote to buy the pavers because the labour and materials cost was already more than a plain concrete driveway, which is what I'll be having. Not sure if this is standard practice but that's how the paver bloke was going to lay them...or hoping to get the job!!
