2 ISSUES here: 1. Unfortunately the mentioned Concretor works within the Werribee Point Cook areas and has run away with our $3,200 after pouring concrete, Leaving 2 large Yellow Stains on the Driveway and unsealed which we had paid the total amount for. They had originally been passionate that they do a concrete path around our home for another $6500 which I'm glad we couldn't afford. This happened in early April 2011 and we had not been able to use our driveway, blocked by a plastic barrier by the concretors. We also had an Infringement Notice issued for parking outside on the Natural Strips. {Mod edit} Consumer Affairs are dealing with this, 4months later and after no response all this time, they have cooked up a new story that we've been driving on our driveway and we've poured something on the concrete paving to stain the driveway this week. {Mod edit} 2. For all the experts out there? i. What's the best thing to do with our driveway? ii. The yellow stains came about after their subcontractor came and acid-wash the driveway. Does anyone know what are those stains? iii. What are the effects after leaving that driveway with all the rain for the last 4 months unsealed and the stains there? iv. Who does removal of Concrete Driveway? v. Only when the Driveway is removed will Contractors be interested to do a new quote as nobody wants to be involved with unfinished business. Any help would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
Re: HELP! Runaway Concretor:FIX IT PROPERTY SERVICES 2Aug 17, 2011 4:40 pm Oh wow, I will definately be on the look out for those people.. that would suck.. do you have a picture of the driveway so we can see how bad it is? I'm not sure about the answers to your questions but I will give my opinion i. If the driveway is still ok I would consider painting it with a heavy traffic paint like Berger Jet Dry. ii. A picture would help, but i wouldn't know about this. iii. If you want to remove the driveway I'm guessing an excavator would help you with that.. Re: HELP! Runaway Concretor:FIX IT PROPERTY SERVICES 4Aug 17, 2011 5:20 pm If the actual top surface looks OK apart from the colour. I would go for painting with Berger Jet Dry, as previously suggested, or one of the other concrete paints there are plenty to choose from. The Concrete shouldn't have come to any harm from being unsealed. The rain will have helped if anything. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! When someone threatens with consumer affairs (not directly to me) I have a laugh. I know you see your driveway every day and its depressing and emotions are up and down. So start to rectify issue. Firstly I'm not expert. Use the drive way, remove all barriers, driving on it will not harm the drive way. Speak to the poster Miteq about the stain. Mostly try to disguise it with more staining, acid wash may remove but bugger the surface, however penetrating sealers will fix that. Or just paint many many types to choose from. If after a year of using the drive way with the paint or the sealer and still not happy then think about more drastic measures. Removing is easy many can do it, look in yellow pages. Or if feeling like some aggression still needs to be release hire a concrete saw or concrete saw dude. And buy a sledge hammer. You can guess the rest. Its not all bad, the guy down the road had a house slab poured so badly the engineer refused to allow certification. Its now in the hands of solicitors. But they couldn't wait so, have built behind the slab (rural block). So every time they leave the house they will walk onto the slab.
