Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Aug 10, 2011 2:29 pm Hi all. We are investigating polishing the concrete in our 38 sqm garage. We've had one specialist concrete polisher over and he is quoting $110/sqm. The garage floor is about 40 years old, is at the front of the house, is easily accessible and has a few dings in the floor but nothing much. We didn't ask for anything special. This guy uses the hiperfloor system. $4k to polish the floor is too much for us. Is this a reasonable price? I don't want to waste any other polisher's time to get them over to quote if that is simply how much polishing costs. Thanks. Re: Is this a reasonable quote for concrete polishing? 2Aug 10, 2011 11:49 pm Hi Networker55, That sounds about right. We enquired about polished concrete floors for 77sqms and that was $7.5k. That was for inside our house though hallway and living areas but id assume its not too different. It is costly but it looks beautiful. Maybe as a cheaper option you can just have coloured concrete and a nice gloss or something Re: Is this a reasonable quote for concrete polishing? 3Aug 11, 2011 9:35 am Thanks betHeEeee. Yeah the examples we have seen of polished concrete floors look awesome. I can understand why people want them inside the house, and why they would be prepared to pay a premium for the look. Hard to justify in a garage though. I reckon we will look into (much) cheaper alternatives like 2 pack epoxy or similar. Re: Is this a reasonable quote for concrete polishing? 4Aug 11, 2011 10:46 am Oh we didn't end up going opting for it.. we figured, $7.5k for concrete floors or $2.5k for laminate timber floors... hmmmm we picked the laminate hehe maybe in our next house All the best shopping for the alternatives, feel free to post up some pics when you do Re: Is this a reasonable quote for concrete polishing? 5Aug 15, 2011 11:00 pm If the $110 per meter is to much and you are willing to go with a topical sealer eg.epoxy try ringing the company back and asking if they can quote to do a "Grind and Seal" option. This way you will get the look of the exposed stone and raw concrete look and it will be a cheaper alternative than a full polish. Note it will need to be re-coated after time. Seems good to me. I've been told $4-5k/sqm is reasonable in Perth. 2 7836 hey there! π so, itβs kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 18685 |
