Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jul 07, 2011 2:58 pm Sorry to make my first post on the forum a negative one. However I'm just trying to make people aware and not to fall into the same awful experience I've had. The business in question is ReidLock Concrete. around Melbourne, Pointcook and Ballarat. The ordeal came about when I was shopping for a concrete to concrete my driveway, I came across a company named G-Stone, contacted them to see if they would be interested to come and give me a quote. G-Stone said they won't come out to give me a precise quote unless I'm certain I'll give them the job, as they are quite busy and have enough work. Then a few days later I received a phone call from another concreter named Marty, said he has been referred to me by his mate G-Stone. He came around and gave me a quote, it was the cheapest out of all quotes so naturally he got the job. It wasn't a ridiculersily cheap quote, it was a fair price by the on going rate of concrete per square meter. On the first meeting to measure and quote said he could start job few days later and asked for 50% deposit. So meet him 7:30am with deposit of $1400 got a receipt and he then simply draw a few lines or where the reinforcements are going to be and said he needed to go somewhere else and will get a bobcat in to clear the soil. Two days later a bobcat came around and cleared some soil.. not a lot but some. I wasn't there to see and meet the bobcat driver. From then onwards when I rang him to find out when will he actually pour the concrete I kept on getting excuses or promises that was never fulfilled. Then finally... his phone is suddenly out of contact, as in switched off. I've got his business card, with no address. I've got a receipt of my deposit, with a fake ABN number that had too many digits. I've got 3 phone numbers but no much I can do other than going through the court process to find more details as no government services are willing/can help without a physical address or if I'm ready to launch a court case. 1 mobile number of him 1 mobile number of his mate which he used to txt me on 1 house number of his parents And yes I've rang all the numbers daily to get in contact of him. I've given him 1 week of absolutely no contact before I contacted another concrete guy to finish the job off as I can't wait much longer. I've got a dead line to meet. I hope no one is as unlucky as me and will avoid his bad service. Re: ReidLoch Concerete: Unpleasent experience 2Jul 07, 2011 3:02 pm That's a shocking thing to do ... he's probably changed the name of his company by now too. Do you think someone at G-Stone knows him if they passed on your details?
