Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 May 26, 2011 10:40 am Hey guys, I have a quick question. We are currently getting a house built and our contract states that the driveway and front stairs (which are concrete) will be 'Colour On Concrete'. From what I have been able to find this term refers to only the top layer of the concrete getting the colour pigment and the rest being the normal grey colour. Is this correct? The reason I am asking is because our builder has decided to use some sort of coloured sealer / paint on the driveway and stairs, which is not what we believed we were to get. We are still trying to find out exactly what they have put on it, as we are sure the concrete wasn't allowed to cure long enough (only about 2 weeks before concrete being laid to being sealed) and only one coat appears to have been used. So any advice would be great. Re: Colour On Concrete?? 3May 26, 2011 2:24 pm If the builder plans to use only the colored sealer, then i would say this is not what is specified. I'm not sure how color on works but I thought they spread a colored oxide powder on to the concrete to color it, then the sealer bring out the color and seals the surface from being corrupted. Hi, Thanks for that. That was how I thought the Colour On worked as well. I have sent an email to the builder saying this is what Colour-On concrete should be, and ask for a solution. Thanks for the Info guys! To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9830 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10926 |
